Okada Foundation, Inc. (OFI) is helping strengthen Naga City’s public health system through a PHP 135-million healthcare donation that supports hospitals, health centers, and community healthcare services across the city. Turned over on July 27, the initiative helps improve the capacity of local healthcare institutions to provide quality care while bringing essential medical services closer to more communities.

The donation includes one customized mobile clinic and one garbage truck compactor for the City of Naga, together with medical equipment for the Naga City General Hospital, City Health Offices I and II, and Our Lady of Lourdes Infirmary. These resources strengthen healthcare delivery while supporting the city’s broader public health and sanitation efforts. The ceremonial turnover was attended by OFI President James Lorenzana, Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, local government officials, and healthcare leaders.

Equipping Naga City’s Healthcare Institutions

The donation strengthens healthcare services across multiple levels of care in Naga City. City Health Offices I and II and Our Lady of Lourdes Infirmary received medical equipment that supports routine laboratory testing, patient assessment, and primary healthcare services, while the Naga City General Hospital was equipped with specialized diagnostic, surgical, maternal care, and critical care equipment. Together with the city’s new mobile clinic, these resources help healthcare providers respond more effectively to the everyday healthcare needs of residents. A customized mobile clinic further extends these services to more communities across the city.

At the community level, City Health Offices I and II and Our Lady of Lourdes Infirmary received hematology and chemistry analyzers, portable X-ray units, ECG machines, microscopes, pharmacy refrigerators, sterilizers, centrifuges, fetal Dopplers, and other equipment that support routine laboratory testing and primary care. The Naga City General Hospital received more
advanced medical equipment, including a tissue processor, centralized electronic fetal monitor, 2D echocardiography system, anesthesia machine, arterial blood gas analyzer, cardiotocography machine, infusion pumps, and other specialized equipment that enhance hospital-based patient care.

With stronger support for hospitals, health centers, and public health programs, more families in Naga City can benefit from timely care, healthier surroundings, and a healthcare system better equipped to meet the needs of the community.

The additional resources are expected to strengthen services across the city’s healthcare network. City Health Office I, which serves around 100 patients daily and supports 10 barangays with an estimated population of 63,000, will be better equipped to respond to the needs of its growing community. Meanwhile, Our Lady of Lourdes Infirmary, which attends to 50 to 60 patients each day, will also benefit from improved diagnostic and patient care capabilities.

OFI President James Lorenzana shared that, “A strong public health system begins with giving healthcare professionals the resources they need to care for their communities. We hope these donations help strengthen healthcare services across Naga City and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families who rely on them every day.”

Supporting Healthier Communities

Strong public health extends beyond hospitals and clinics. The city’s new mobile clinic will help bring essential healthcare services closer to communities, while the garbage truck compactor strengthens sanitation efforts that help keep neighborhoods cleaner and healthier. Together with the donated medical equipment, these resources reinforce Naga City’s efforts to build a more responsive public health system.

“This is a meaningful partnership for Naga City because it strengthens the work our healthcare institutions do every day. With these additional resources, we can better support our healthcare workers and provide quality care to more residents across our communities,” said Hon. Leni Robredo, Mayor of Naga City.

Healthy communities are built when healthcare services continue to evolve alongside the needs of the people they serve. With stronger support for hospitals, health centers, and public health programs, more families in Naga City can benefit from timely care, healthier surroundings, and a healthcare system better equipped to meet the needs of the community.

Across Cebu, Every Lechon Tells a Different Story

Cebu lechon may look familiar on the table, but ask the people who prepare it and the differences quickly come out. One town uses more lemongrass. Another adds coconut vinegar. Some still prefer bamboo for roasting, while others rely on closely guarded ingredients to keep the meat tender and the skin crisp.
